When should wood preservatives be used? What are its characteristics?
Wood rot is the result of wood rot bacteria. Hydrolytic enzymes in wood rot bacteria can decompose cellulose, lignin and cell contents that make up wood cell walls as nutrients, gradually reducing the strength of wood until it loses all carrying capacity.
Wood is a kind of natural organic material, with obvious biological characteristics, easy to be invaded by bacteria, insects, Marine drilling insects and other organisms. Before use, according to different application environment, the selection of appropriate preservatives, appropriate treatment, can effectively delay the decay of wood. With the improvement of people's living standard, the demand for wood is also increasing day by day. The forest resources available for logging in China are very limited and it is unrealistic to expect to import timber with large amounts of foreign exchange. Based on domestic, make full use of existing resources, the way of sustainable development, is our country wood industry development of the only way.
It is one of the important ways to save wood and protect forest resources to treat wood preservative and prolong the service life of wood products. Nowadays, the wood used by the antisepsis treatment is very few, and most of the traditional wood preservatives used are harmful to people and the environment. So it is necessary to understand the progress of wood preservatives and develop new wood preservatives
Classification of wood preservatives
(1) Water-borne (water-soluble) preservatives: wood preservatives that are soluble in water and take water as the carrier. Such as CCA, ACQ, CA-B, CB-A, ACZA, ACC, CC and so on.
(2) Organic solvent (oil-borne or oil-soluble) preservative: a wood preservative containing insecticide, fungicide or a compound of both, dissolved in an organic solvent. Such as pentachlorophenol, chlorothalonil, copper naphthenate, copper 8 hydroxyquinolinic acid.
(3) Oil preservatives: antiseptic oil, coal tar, anthracene oil.
By far the most common way to prevent wood from rotting is to use chemical preservatives. At present, water-soluble preservatives are the most used, accounting for about 3/4 of the total preservatives used. In order to prolong the service life of wood, we can use wood preservatives appropriately, which is also saving wood and protecting forest resources.
