What is a preservative?
A preservative is a substance that prevents the growth of microorganisms. In cosmetics, the role of preservatives is to protect the product from microbial contamination and extend the shelf life of the product; Ensure the safety of products and prevent consumers from possible infections caused by the use of products contaminated with microorganisms. Cosmetics caused by microbial contamination deterioration, under normal circumstances, can be reflected in the appearance. Preservative manufacturers, preservative anticorrosion principle, there are roughly three kinds:
First, it interferes with the enzyme system of microorganisms, destroys their normal metabolism, and inhibits the activity of enzymes.
Second, it makes the protein of microorganisms coagulate and denature, interfering with their survival and reproduction.
Third, it changes the permeability of the serous membrane of the cell, inhibits the exclusion of enzymes and metabolites in the body, resulting in its inactivation.
