The advantages and disadvantages of isothiazolinone derivatives are introduced, which are worth collecting
Isothiazolinone derivatives are a class of compounds containing isothiazolinone rings, which have the advantages of broad spectrum, high efficiency and environmental protection, so they are widely used in industrial circulating cooling water, adhesives, textiles, coatings, emulsions, plastics, paper and other fields.
The bactericidal mechanism of isothiazolinone derivatives is mainly based on their strong penetration of cell membranes and cell walls, and can interact with cell containing sulfur proteins, enzymes or simple molecules to destroy the normal function of cells, thereby rapidly and irreversibly inhibiting microbial growth and leading to microbial cell death.
Common isothiazolinone derivatives are as follows:
1. Isothiazolinone (CMIT/MIT) : It is the most widely used tank preservative in the domestic and foreign markets at present, with common concentrations of 1.5% and 2.5%. Its advantages are broad spectrum sterilization efficiency, no release of formaldehyde, non-volatile, good compatibility, fast sterilization speed, but pH > 9 when the stability is poor, poor thermal stability, chlorine, irritating to the skin. The disadvantage is that pH > 9 is unstable. Poor thermal stability (CMIT is not heat and alkali resistant, but MIT can), the temperature should not be higher than 40℃ for a long time. When in contact with reducing agents, the corrosion resistance is reduced and will degrade. Contains chlorine and is irritating to the skin.
Octylisothiazolinone (OIT) : the appearance of the commodity is generally light yellow to colorless transparent liquid, which has an antibacterial effect on most microorganisms, especially on mold. The advantages are good color stability, no formaldehyde and metal, and a wide range of compatibility, while the disadvantages are poor stability at high pH values and potential skin sensitization.
Dichloro-n-octyl-4-isothiazolinone (DCOIT) : a white powder, it is a new generation of environmentally friendly anti-mildew and algal agent, and won the President's Green Chemistry Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As an antifouling agent, it has the characteristics of high efficiency, low toxicity, long duration of efficacy and environmental safety, and is an excellent substitute for organotin antifouling agent. DCOIT has a good inhibitory effect on diatoms, bacteria, algae and barnacles and other animals, with high efficiency, and can be quickly decomposed by hydrolysis, photodegradation and biodegradation, without cumulative effect, so it is very safe for the Marine environment.
4. Benzoisothiazolinone (BIT) : in the field of coatings, the amount of in-tank preservative is second only to Kason, and the environmental friendly bactericide has obvious inhibition effect on bacteria, especially the inhibitory activity against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli is better than Staphylococcus aureus.
Advantages: It does not release formaldehyde, does not contain halogen, and does not volatilize. It has thermal stability and acid-base stability, can be used in a wide range of pH values, good chemical stability, and compatible with amines. It has no corrosive effect on metal.
Disadvantages: With strong oxidizing reducing agents, the corrosion resistance is reduced, the sterilization is slow, the skin is stimulated, and the antibacterial spectrum has a gap.
5. Butyl benzoisothiazolinone (BBIT) : light yellow transparent liquid, has excellent antibacterial activity to bacteria, fungi and algae, especially has a strong killing ability to mold. The advantage is that it does not react with additives, does not affect product performance, thermal stability is greater than 300℃, and has good ultraviolet resistance. The disadvantage is that it is unstable to acids, bases, oxidants and reducing agents, and can decompose or react.
Purpose:
2-butyl-1, 2-benzoisothiazolin-3-one can be used to produce rubber antioxidants (such as rubber addition agents, vulcanizing agents, etc.).
It is also commonly used as a fungicide and preservative, and can be used in fields such as preservative wood, cleaning agents and plastics.
